might be helpful to describe which of the millions
of different ways you are using to get usenet news
groups. what operating system, what viewer or
tour bus, what type of ISP interface, etc.

for example, i'm using linux redhat 7.3 with a mozilla
windows receiving my news from my ISP's server, using
an ancient slow 56K external modem.

in my case, the mozilla menus allowed me to set up
automatic quoting when i "reply" to a post.

and they always put the quoted stuff at the top and my
text typing cursor underneath. no top posting from me.

but it was that way with mozilla on my windoze XP side
and even back to my netscape in the older days. sure,
in the really, really old days i was on a 25x80 screen
 using rn.

i took a look at the google groups interface and held
my nose. yahoo seems an even worse tour bus. but
those things do have there usefulness. just not as
 a usenet/email interface over a dail-up.

then not again, your ISP may not provide usenet. so
you would be stuck on the bus.
