Open Letter to the President (NDC)

Dear President Bush,
Thank you for withdrawing Harriet Miers from consideration as Supreme Court
Justice. While she is doubtless a woman of impeccable character and great
ability, she has little judicial record on which to place our trust. With
critical moral issues hanging in the balance, we must make certain that the
next Justice will vote to overturn Roe v. Wade and all the imaginary
"rights" accorded to homosexuals. In the last fifty years the secular
onslaught has eroded the traditional and spiritual values that founded
America. Despite what is written in the Constitution, religious tests are
indeed appropriate when evaluating the qualifications of public officials.
Yet religion is not enough. We need a solid strict constructionist along
the lines of Clarence Thomas. We need a Justice who respects the power of
majority rule and who will not legislate from the bench. Mr. President, you
were elected in no small part thanks to millions of Bible-believing
Christians that counted on you to have the courage of your convictions. The
time has come to spend some of your political capital and nominate a Justice
who will act according to the scriptural principles we hold most dear, for
in truth there is no Justice without Jesus.
Sincerely,
T. Krissy, President of the League Of Christian Voters
