To add, whether you're protected or not, I think Matt's other point is the
more important one - he registers as a matter of protocol. I think if you're
going to put something out in public, you need to register it. It would be a
good practice for all of us to get into.

I should also mention the reverse is true. If you compose something and tuck
it away in a drawer, registering it is not so important, and it just makes
more work for the Copyright Office. We should all register, but register
responsibly.

Oh dear, I'm becoming my dad. Yikes!
