Really? When did you last see one of those century-old Landowska
machines?

The Goble harpsichords with about 7 brass pedals to operate the stops
and coupler that were de riguer in the 1960s are still around today, in
the UK. They aren't metal-framed, true, but they are the spiritual
dexcendants of Landowska's.

Are they likely to turn up on British recordings of Baroque music?

I'd imagine those Menuhin and the Bath Festival Orchestra recordings of
Bach concertos would use them. I played one, or something similar, for a
recording of contemporary music a couple of years ago [MemoryHouse by
Max Richter on the BBC Late Junction label].

I think Menuhin's Bach is my all-time favorite non-HIP Bach!

I'll take Suzuki for the vocal music, but not for the orchestral (the
Brandenburgs are old, the Suites brand-new) or most of the keyboard (but
I do like his WTC I; he hasn't done WTC II yet).
