Re: What classical artist would you just as well never ever hear again

Now, lets apply the same question to artists (solo instrumentalists,
solo voices, ensembles, orchestras, conductors).
My list is topped by Simon Rattle. I have yet to hear a single
recording from him that was even slightly satsifying, let alone that
even approached the hype from British reviewers that seem to consider
him the musical messiah. I would not surprised if worthy recordings
under his direction exist, but I've given up any effort to find them.

Hearing Rattle and the Berlin Phil doing a second half of a concert of
Schoenberg, Berg, & Webern with no pauses between the works and the
audience dead quiet gives the lie to those words. Perhaps you should
be attending more concerts instead of making sweeping judgements via
recordings. From recent listening I like his Mahler and Szymanowski
recordings, too.

And Renee Fleming gets too much bad press here. A viewing of a recent
HD cinema broadcast of the Met Strauss Capriccio was a enthralling
experience. I've also heard her live and the voice is as luscious as
described.
