Frank, creating a moderated newsgroup in the rec hierarchy is not an easy process. It involves submitting a request for discussion (RFD) to the group <newsgroups. proposals>. There it is discussed and hashed over. They will ask about how you plan to set up the moderation process, who will be responsible, and whether there will be enough traffic to warrant the group. Eventually the big 8 board would vote on whether to create this group or not. If the group passes it will not change rmcr, it would remain unmoderated, but it would form a competing group with a different name. Not a good idea in my opinion as it would splinter this group just as the yahoo group is doing.



It doesn't 'splinter' this group. The faint-hearted will leave, the explorers will read both boards, the reactionaries will stay, the A&Ts will be here until the dysentery gets them.
