Ivens was a great man. His stuff is timeless. Many years ago he came
to Utrecht to give a short talk before a showing of his films. I
recall the occasion vividly. Many of the students had not idea who the
old man was...
The 'Regen' restored by the 'Nederlands Filmmuseum' with Eisler's
music is magnificent. The music is from a (the original?) 1941
recording by an ensemble with Joseph Schuster (c), Eduard Steuermann
(p), Nathan 'Tossy' Spivakovsky (v) and others, conducted by Rudolf
Kolisch (v?).

What a lovely thing! I'm going to order this. I find that when a pause
is needed, a recentering as it were, Joris Ivens and Jean Vigo are the
best medicine... the Eisler score sounds intriguing.
