Lots of CDs have supplemental material, which can be accessed on a

That doesn't negate my statement. Do those CDs have the official
Compat Disc logo on them?

DG 459 611-2 (Beethoven Opp.18/4 and 131, Hagen Quartet) is 'enhanced'
and also carries the Compact Disc logo. Unfortunately for me (a Mac
user), the enhancements only work with Windows.

Many of the BBC Music magazine CDs also had "interactive PC CD-ROM"
content and they have the old "Compact disc digital audio" logo on
them. Picking one at random vol.7 no.11 Belshazzar's Feast Willard
White, BBC SO & Chorus, Leeds Festival Chorus / Andrew Davis the
interactive content includes a listening guide, photos and biographies
of the perfomers, William Walton biography selected recordings time
line etc. The listening guide has 29 cues so that you can jump to
relevant sections. It has to be installed on the PC and even though
the installer is for Windows 95 it installs and works fine on XP Pro
rather to my surprise.

Take a look at www.strange.co.uk/musicmag for an explanation of these
CDs which are claimed to be supported by Sony and Philips.

I've just remembered that some years before the CDExtra format used by BBC
Music Mag, Microsoft did a series of classical music CD roms that would
play on a normal CD player or interactively on a PC eg:

Multimedia Beethoven the Ninth Symphony almost certainly VPO Hans Schmidt
-Isserstadt licensed from DECCA © 1986

Multimedia Stravinsky Rite of Spring - anyone know which performance?

Multimedia Schubert The Trout Quintet - again anyone know which - the only
clue is © EMI 1986 on the CD

I've just tried the "Trout" on my windows XP pro machine and despite it
being for windows 3.1 it installs and works OK.
