sounds great, but there are a number of orchestras in other places
which play on that level, and Cleveland is a horrible city, as dreary
and dead as only American cities can be. Why that is, I don't know,
but there is no other country in the Western world where most of the
cities are as dead and uninviting as in the US. Next to no culture, no
interesting neighborhoods, just bedroom communities, shopping malls
and a lot of places which close really early. I think I would rather
shoot myself than live in a place like Cleveland (or indeed most other
places in the US that I have been to).

you have no clue as to the variety offered by this country. Have you,
for instance, spent any time in the Northwest? If you haven't, then you

because he gave his view on cities?
Don't be silly. *Nothing* in what I say invites Michael to 'leave the country.' As long as he's here legally (which I'm sure is the case) he's welcome to stay as long as he likes. I did wonder, and continue to do so, why it is he is here in a place which is, from his perspective, so manifestly inferior to the environs from which he came. I further state that I don't believe he really knows this country very well, something I believe to be true.

I have pointed out many times before that Harper and some of the other
very loudmouthed, very provincial and very easily offended pseudo-
patriots share too many traits with old Nazis that I knew back in the
day to overlook the many obvious similarities in spirit and outlook.
And this, of course, is all too typical of Michael's reaction to any criticism.
I ask again: have you, Michael, spent any time in the Northwest? If you had, and had your eyes (and mind) open, then you would not make the blanket asinine statement you make above. I know you'll probably try to weasel out by pointing out that you said 'most', but it really won't do. There are interesting neighborhoods to be found in just about any American city. But one needs that open mind, and those open eyes, to see them, and you give precious little evidence of possessing either.

P.S. Paige, please don't lecture me about having an 'open mind'; your sort of groupthink is hardly conducive to the development of true independent judgment.
