Very smart. However, early digital recording sounded bad on vinyl and
CD. When Telarc put out the Maazel Pictures and other CDs that sounded
quite good and there were LPs to compare with, it was easier to tell
which was the better medium- agree?

NO. Actually, long ago when I did listen to quiet portions of a LP vs. the
CD, I wasn't able to hear much of a difference, if any. I often used the CD
as test to check that tonearm geometry, etc., etc. was up to snuff.
