umm how do you explain his apparent move to the Isle of Man, which I
presume is the only place you can use Manx Telecom? (Alan was revealed
as a resident of Essex during the height of Hatto-fever.

He was incorrectly revealed as a resident of Essex - as it was assumed
that a journalist called Alan Watkins domiciled in Essex was "our" A W -
he wasn't.

And, IIRC, he claimed to be Irish, or at least of Irish parentage.
