Fred Fennell had a pretty good idea as well, and I lie the fact that h
doesn't just get stuck on SSF....it's a good march, but it is way
overplayed, to the neglect of some of the other superb ones...
Sometimes FF doesn't quite seem to get a "peg legged man get up and
march" in his Sousa readings. To me the underated recording was the
old U of Michigan LP on Vanguard with Revelli. Now that had real
spirit IMO.
