I wonder if people on this list might be able to help me with a small, recurring, annoying problem.
My use of the computer includes winamp (to play music), total recorder, click repair, real player, and youtube and media sites through firefox. Now occasionally when I open total recorder and try to start something on it, I get the message, "Audio driver unavailable--a different program is using audio." Sometimes closing winamp will fix that--but sometimes it will not and I have to close everything or restart. Alternatively, it's not uncommon when I try to open something on youtube not to have any audio even when I've closed the programs that clearly use it.
Does anyone know if there is some way to find out what the audio driver is doing at any given moment and to terminate that association? Thanks.

Am not too sure about the drivers actually in use at any given time, but often a particular player will grab the default. Usually corrected by setting up preferences in the particular player you want back.
WMP has Tools-Options-File Types, and then tick the appropriate boxes. In addition, and more importantly, for very useful info on all the drivers and codecs available on your system, click on Help, About, and then click on the link Technical Support Information at the bottom of the window, which yields a whole heap of info regarding your drivers, audio codecs, video codecs, etc.
