Was just browsing in the archive and came across a 1998 discussion of
the Leibowitz Beethoven symphonies. I am wondering if anyone knows if
this set is available somewhere. (Frank, I checked Arkiv and found
most of the symphonies are availabe [though not in a set] but at a
veeeeeery steep price!) thanks

Tim,

The entire set was available for a time on the Regis label.
I got mine from Berkshire. Not there anymore. You might
try some British or Japanese sites. It was quite cheap
at BRO.

Other than that, check Ebay. It turns up there from
time to time.

Wasn't there some complaint taht the Regis transfers didn't sound as good
as the Chesky originals?

Brendan

I've never heard the Chesky. I have the original
LPs (Ebay) and the Scribendum CDs. I've never
compared side by side. Be interesting, wouldn't it?
The CDs did strike me as rather bright, but nothing
that couldn't be tempered with a bit of EQ. Considering
the price, I'm satisfied.
