I'm not sure I understand this. What is their exposure
if they get an e-mail through ebay that gives an alternate
shipping address? The first item I bought I sent as a gift
to a friend at her address. If the seller has the e-mail
instructions on the record through ebay, what is the
"exposure"? I know I have "exposure" in the
transaction that I have now disputed in that the
PayPal transaction that I authorized within a few
minutes of buying delivered the funds to the seller
almost immediately.

Doesn't matter, you could go back and take the money back (resulting
in a chargeback) and if the seller complained to PayPal (after he saw
a negative balance in his account), they would tell him they won't do
anything (if he sent to a non-verified address). It's a PayPal
policy. Ask them if you want more details. People steal credit
cards, open a PayPal account with the legitimate address and try and
have the purchases sent to a drop location.


Well, except that I also gave my "verified" address
as an alternate shipping address. Then I added the
office address to PayPal as an additional address.

BTW, I did open a dispute with Paypal on the other
item--again paid for immediately-that was not
received by 5/23 after being won and paid for
on 4/12 and no responses to e-mail inquires made
through ebay.
