Hello Richard. You're right, the Japanese *are* very polite (I married
one). Audiences rarely, if ever cough and splutter during a
performance. In the UK, everyone sounds as though they have terminal
bronchitis. They do applaud, very enthusiastically in fact, but this
has obviously been edited.
