The reason why I would be advocating this is because this place has gotten
very hard to read, with first those huge gobbledegook posts and now the
overwhelming amount of commercial spam. I get to see about five RMCR-posts
a page; the rest is crap.

That's because you're viewing r.m.c.r. via Google Groups. The solution to
the problem has been stated over and over and over again here: Stop using
Google Groups, get a subscription to a legitimate news server, and view it
with a real newsreader. Until you do that, you have no right to complain.
