Re: Johanna Martzy Dvorak DGG 10" LPE 17178 on ebay

I was an obsessive LP cleaner, back when I listened to LPs for pleasure.
(Now I only play them to dub onto DAT for remastering).

I knew something was off-kilter when I realized it took me longer to clean
an LP with Mozart's Marriage of Figaro Overture than to listen to the
piece.

Russ (not Martha)

:) What was stronger, your pleasure of listening or obsession to clean them?
:)

I usually clean record once and never more. Put them into anti-static sleeve
and that's it. Second listening and on is best. Regardless of fluid used and
how well you vacuum, some thin residue remains in grooves and first
listening is with slightly higher noise.

I need 2-3 minutes to clean BOTH sides, using semi-automatic Clearaudio
machine (30 seconds of fluid/brushing, 30 seconds of vacuuming, per side,
maybe even less if record is not dirty). With one of those machines you
could indulge your obsession like never before! VPI has good ones too. :)
