When will one of the Democratic candidates, i.e. Obama,
point out that for all the GOP's talk about cutting taxes,
this Iraq war is the biggest tax hike in history? And for what?

For all you liberals who think the war is the biggest issue -- it's
about to take a back seat to the economy, which is imploding as we
speak.

Maybe you read Bill Kristol's eulogy of William F. Buckley. Jr.
All about how "liberals" endanger society and security by trying
"makeovers", "heaven on earth". What a joke. He should be
fired immediately, except that the so-called "liberal" NYT was
also hugely culpable in its coverage of the so-called "rationale"
for war. (No wonder they did not print my letter re Kristol.)

The economy IS imploding. And the Iraq war is probably the
biggest reason. Think about it: we are spending billions trying to
fix the unfixable situation in Iraq, a society now increasingly polluted
by religious sectarianism, where before it held together admittedly
by an authoritarian regime.

What would be happening here if the government was spending
all that money trying to improve conditions here, or even just
implementing the recommendations of the 9-11 Commission
and that kind of thing?
