George Szell never conducted the work (at least not in Cleveland).
Louis Lane told me that Szell did not like the last two movements.
Reiner did do the work, but I don't think very often (he only did it
on one series in Chicago). Leinsdorf never did it either, from what I
can tell. I don't remember him doing much Berlioz at all, even the
overtures. The two conductors I would love to have heard do the work
is Mengelberg and Harty (Coates as well, for that matter).
