Yes, she's been teaching in addition to her concert career. After
all, it's not as though she spends any time in the recording studio

It's a real shame about her lack of recordings in the last five (?)
years. OT, but reported with genuine pleasure, last Thursday Midori
was in Liverpool (UK) for a wonderful performance of the Mendelssohn
E minor Concerto, superbly conducted by Mackerras (as was the whole
concert).
Before Jeremy M. pipes in with the correction, I'll note that
Midori's first new CD in five years, JS Bach BWV. 1003 and Bartok
Violin Sonata #1, was just released a few weeks ago. I guess Sony
BMG lavished as much publicity on it as they had done for Volodos'
Liszt recital last year.
What publicity do any classical labels do? Do you expect TV
commercials or ads in major newspapers or magazines?

Ads in music magazines, placement in Amazon.com lists (in addition to
all of the krossover krap that always seems to be there)

Midori's new CD is the first one listed.

I imagine its advertised in magazines like Gramaphone, etc.

I imagine it's even in Gramophone.

Amazon.com was the first I saw of it -- it hadn't shown up at Amoeba Music or
Canterbury Records, both of which I visited in the last couple of weeks.
