The analogy I prefer is that this Newsgroup is like a public park, where some bring their dogs to relieve themselves. When other goers raise their objections, the first group will protest that they have just as much right to be there as anyone else, and besides they have planted little red flags in their dogs' leavings, making it easy to avoid.

Extending a bit further: in both cases, the offending matter will soon be a-buzzing with flies.
