I just can't believe either of the Bruckner 7s are going to be so much

The AT 7th drives me crazy: the first movement coda is apparently going
to reach a height of ecstasy no other conductor has even tried for, when
the music cuts off. It's like getting glimpse of Eden through a door
that suddenly slams shut in your face.
Matthew: is Pristine's remaster that much better than your own posting?
The one I posted was a straight rip of the "Ansfelden" CD that I bought
from its only source known to me, through an intermediary living in Japan.
Subsequent posts by others here have suggested that the source was an
"inside job" from someone at New York's 42nd Street Library. It certainly
sounds better than the analog dub at the Paley Center for Media (formerly
called the Museum of Television & Radio) in Beverly Hills, which I heard
many times.
For everyday listening, I prefer Mr. Rose's re-equalized and noise-reduced
version, although he does quick fades at the missing sections. And as for
those gaps, I quite agree they are heartbreaking, as with the Furtwängler
"Meistersinger" which is missing several chunks here and there, most
damagingly the Act III Quintet! "Eva, in Paradis" indeed!
