It is perfectly possible to write a display that has enough resolution to
allow following the music. Common programs don't have one, however.
I have seen "waterfall displays" that would work, but the amplitude
is not easy to tell. I wrote a display that shows a spectrum
24 times per second at high resolution and plays at the same time,
which works great, but you cant do anything except play a whole track,
no button to scan inside a track. For simple music (say "Density 21.5") you really
can tell what is playing by looking at it.
