Re: Angry Classical Music

When I want to listen to get the irritation out, I sometimes listen to
(loud of course):

Wolf's Glen scene from Der Freischutz - When he's yelling Sameal in
the midst of the orcxhestral explosion of sound, that is just so
satisfying.
Beethoven's 5th Symphony, movement 1
Grieg's In the Hall of the Mountain King (in particular the second
half, in a version where the speeds push ahead)
La Fanciulla del West (track 20 of the Domingo/Milnes version, 'Ah.
Ah. Minnie'
Otello: Storm (first track, Una Vela) and then a bit later when they
have the sword fight (until Otello's entrance is magnificant) and Ora
e per sempre addio (Otello)

And for something that is post-1920, but often does the trick for me
since it is film music (beating of the drums helps the imagery of the
book in my head, but has the element of heroic as well?):
Fields of Pelanor (Lord of the RIngs, Return of the King)
Prokofiev: Aleksander Nevsky (Battle on the Ice) (parts of it anyway,
in paricular minutes 3-5 or so)
