I suppose you never head of liberals accusing conservatives who oppose,
say,
minimum wage legislation, of being insensitive to the needs of the poor,
in
bed with big business, etc, etc.

Oh, I've heard about it, all right - because it's true.

Never for a moment allowing that opponents
might be just as motivated to help the poor as proponents, but simply
believe that the unemployment that minimum wage legislation causes
(concentrated, of course among the poor and minorities) is worse than
the
"cure."

No, I don't allow that. So far as I know, it is simply a lie to say that
"opponents" are "just as motivated"; more likely, they're not motivated
at all. That is certainly my experience.

And that minimum wage argument has been made and disproved so many times
that it seems extremely ignorant of youse guys to keep bringing it up. So
I consider it for what it is: a bum argument that you don't have the
brains to drop.

Sechumlib, you are wasting your time arguing with Berger. He is employed
by the Federal Reserve System and how often have they been right about
anything?

I generally don't see Secumlib's posts as he is one of three people I have
ever kilfilled. As far as I kbnow there was one recent study that
questioned the conclusion that raising the minimum wage to an effective leve
causes unemployment among the affected group. That study's methodology has
been widely criticized. The vast, vast majority of the literature supports
the contention.
People who don't want to believe it, won't I guess.

Regarding my employer, how exactly is that relevant to anything? It isn't -
which says a lot about your character in bringing it up.
