I should have chosen a clip of a not as rare recorded work (or

Yes, the clip is from the live recording of the 3rd with the
Gewandhausorchester conducted by Herbert Blomstedt.
I felt bad for posting that information. Playing non-musical sleuth
was selfish compensation for the disappointment at trying to hear
through the weirdness of the score. I would be quite pleased at the
chance to do this again with another more common Bruckner symphony.
So, Michael- how do you like this performance and the other in the box
set? This is quite an appealing release that I wasn't previously
aware of. I'd love to hear Blomstedt and Leipzig do Mendelssohn 3.
There was nothing wrong with posting the info. I was basically just
kidding. That kind of "investigative" work is part of the reception
and criticism process - most people wouldn't have noticed that to
begin with, so it also shows some level of expertise and knowledge.
But, like I keep saying here, the main point of this blind testing
game is not to display expertise or else be a "failure". "Failures"
are only those who listen to the clips but are too chicken to post
anything - provided they are the same ones who post dramatic and
devastating "opinions" in other threads, but only when they know who
they are listening to.
There is nothing wrong with just downloading and listening to the clip
and not posting if one doesn't think one has something to contribute.
Although I think everybody could still just post their impressions,
without guessing the performers - like I also keep saying, everybody
is welcome to just post impressions and opinions, it is not absolutely
required to guess the Mystery Performers.
I just wish you would stop publically flogging yourself here, after
all, you are one of the few (in relation to the number of downloads)
who actually "dare" to post something. That in itself is already very
good, I think.
