I have a blind friend who recently requested that I find out from youI like the father-daughter team of Claude (piano) and Pamela (violin)
folks what is the best collection of Beethoven's violin sonatas. He
is a audiophile and prefers the emotional over mental (not a fan of
Mozart). He would prefer a complete collection but a couple of
collections covering all the works would be acceptable.
I would greatly appreciate any help and will read him the
responses.
Thank You ALL
Frank. It's a complete 4-CD set on MusicMasters.
Hard not to, in fact.
But so far nobody has mentioned Grumiaux/Haskil, for example. And
there are many others, of course, but some of the greatest fiddlers of
the 20th C.
TD
The partial set by Goldberg & Kraus contains some of the best playing of a number of these sonatas (and Mozart's as well).
