What they've done from a technological sound point is impressive. I
have my CD copy of the '55 recording in my CD player and the SACD in
my SACD player, and when I toggle back and forth, everything sounds
the same except the tape hiss (that is, there is no tape hiss on the
SACD). The Binaural stereo version for headphones is also impressive.
I'd like to seem more people experiment with it.
Actually via my Stax earspeaker system I prefer the regular stereo SACD
layer to the binaural layer, as the latter sounds too close. But it may
well replicate the sound the pianist got, as photographed in the booklet
(with a suspended head on a pole at the keyboard).
