All right, then, name two operas in which one of the characters is a
Japanese prince.

Well, I guess Offenbach's "Ba-ta-clan" doesn't qualify. The prince in
it is Chinese but turns out to be French. (Go figure.)

"Die Zauberflöte," as previously noted, because Tamino is supposed to be
Japanese; and "Madama Butterfly" -- remember Prince Yamadori? I didn't say
it had to be a principal character.
