THis is one big, bold sounding Uranus. Some of it is electrifying!

So why didn't I like it? It wasn't a bad version. It's played well.

I've always like the Planets, but I rarely listen to it. I have one
copy - the Steinberg/BSO version, which I bought because it had one of
the coolest covers EVER!

AGREED! I scanned that cover from the LP and use it
as my desktop wallpaper.

Cool. As a well known brass expert, you might also want to tell us
some things about this rather brassy clip!

Never claimed to be a brass expert. I AM a brass player though.

At the outset, one might guess American, but then so many of
the brass sections over the world have changed and are
becoming "Americanized" in terms of sound production. It's
getting difficult to tell. I for one, rue the days when the world
orchestras produced widely varying sounds.

There is a lot of bite to this sound bite. It almost recalls my
hearing the New Queens Hall Orchestra recording under
Roy Goodman, but the woodwinds don't sound of that
period to me.

It's a toss up.
