Surely everyone has seen the clip of Bush flipping the bird to the
camera by now:

..and surely anyone with any sense of reality knows the religious right
and their allies are sanctimonious hypocrites by now.

This statement doesn't make sense. The only ones, supposedly, who would
be any more offended by an occasional obscene gesture or bad language
than Dems, would be members of the religious right itself, and not their
allies. Presumably, such offense might be one of the things that
distinguish those allied groups. Unless the "allies" are hypocrites for
some other reason, having nothing to do with gestures or language. In
which case, still, your statement makes no sense.

Perhaps it would make more sense if you realized that the Democrats are
only concerned about such behavior from Dubya and his cronies, and other
Republicans. Among the Democrats themselves, most know better than to be
caught in such an embarassment. If any of them don't, they would simply be
laughed at by their fellow Democrats.

It's people like Dubya, who don't have a clue what they're doing as a rule
and then do stupid things like this in addition, that cause the Democrats
and the rest of us somewhat intelligent people to shake heads.

You seem both to have missed Harrington's point and the point of my reply.
Well done.
