Because he'll finally have the courage to get rid of that goddamned Solti
era hangover paint-peeling, ear-splitting, completely useless brass
screeching/splatting/blaring. Barenboim has no sense of sonority, and
had no ability, or desire to really change it. All a gross
simplification, of course, but true enough to warrant interest from these
quarters.

Who would be your choice(s)?

Why even bother to ask? DK's choice would be either some obscure Russian
or a purty gurl.
