Italian tenors Pavarotti and Canonici

Over the years, I have amassed a fairly large collection of records,
tapes and CDs, with particular emphasis on classical tenors. It is my
view that Pavarotti is the greatest tenor.
I have only one recording of Luca Canonici, and no information concernng
his background or current situation. However, in his renditions of "Ella
mi fu rapida: Parmi vreder le lagrime" from RIGOLETTO, and "Com'e
gentil" from DON PASQUALE, I am totally amazed in the similarity to the
same offerings recorded by Luciano Pavarotti.
Has anybody else had this experience?
