After many years of sticking labels onto CDs I'm now moving over to printing directly onto the discs. The printers are now no more expensive (I use a Canon that cost me €99) and the results are lovely, especially with the pearlescent surface you get on Taiyo Yuden printable CDs. Absolutely no qualms about recommending going this route - having had a friend's car player nearly clogged up by a CD label that decided to peel in the heat of the moment..."David Kaiser" <KaiserD2@xxxxxxx> appears to have caused the following letters to be typed in 5%hpf.40799$ih5.40144@dukeread11:">news:5%hpf.40799$ih5.40144@dukeread11:
First, thanks to all those who have told me how to transfer LP to digital. I have made some amazing CDs of old mono Budapest String Quartet stuff and a couple of other things. The quality is remarkable.
I am however having one problem. I'm using Avery Design Pro to design and print the lables. The labels for the CD itself are fine. However, I have not yet found a color scheme that allows me to make very legible spine lables for the cases--they have to show despite the black plastic background. Any ideas? Thanks.
How about that old standby, black on white? Be sure to use a nice simple font for readability.
Incidentally, I'm slowly being won over to the "don't stick paper labels on your CDRs" crowd. I recently took out some CDRs I had labelled with CD Stomper a few years ago, and they're showing signs of bunching and peeling. On my frequent visits to Frys, I've been eyeing some printers which print directly onto CDRs (which have to be a certain kind with a special white printable surface), and would appreciate some recommendations there, either pro or con.
