I use Feurio for CDs, Nero for DVDs and cds, DVDshrink to copy DVDs (DVD
Decrypter for the rare occasions that doesn't work), DVDaudioripper to remove
the sound from DVDs, dBpowerAMP to convert sound files from one format to
another.
As for drives, I have whatever internal stuff Dell installed in the two
computers we use. The older one has NEC and I forget what, the newer one
Philips and Samsung. I also have two external Plextors, 708 and 716. The best
at reading scratched etc. DVDs is the Samsung - it reads discs that even the two
Plextors won't. As others have reported, Feurio doesn't recognize the Samsung
(and it recognizes but refuses to use the Philips as a burner); I'll try J.R.'s
tips later. (No such problem with Nero.)
