have been defending the religious against the notion that they are not

Watkins' apology for blowing up at me in response to a bogus story
pertaining to New Orleans.  Guess he's not man enough.

get the full context of your post.  Please accept my apologies.  I
appreciate the fact that you don't automatically assume a religious
person is not a thinker.


As I have said on many occasions, I have great respect for deeply held
religious convictions, especially when they lead to truly Christly and
compassionate behavior.  One would hope it would give you some pause
for reflection that the ideological backbone of the American liberal
tradition you so despise originated with people of deep religious
conviction, not atheistic communists, and that the author of the Sermon
on the Mount would undoubtedly be despised as a bleeding heart liberal
by the mocking, cruel, Ayn Randian types currently in charge of the
repuglican party, who think somehow it makes sense to force everyone to
honor the life of a blastocyst while leaving the clothing and care of
the poor optional.
