I've been slowly getting back to playing. I've been using a steel
string Traveler guitar. I tried playing my CG with the guitar resting
on my right leg and I'm finding this playing position much less
stressing then the preferred CG position. Anybody else play CG on the
same leg as your picking hand? Flamenco players and many Brazilian
Bossa Nova players play with the guitar on the right leg (right
handers).
I play with a guitar rest device on the right leg (i think you are
supposed to use them on the left leg), which elevates the neck and
brings the guitar more to the left. The footstool is quite taxing for
me because of the asymmetrical hip position, and I couldn't move
around while playing, and I have trouble reaching the lower positions
without taxing my fretting arm.
Maybe I'll switch to the footstool if I some day figure out how to do
it correctly, and with a superior technical effect to playing,
compared to my guitar rest position.
