The hull of the space craft which carried the the astronauts to/from
the moon was indeed aluminum, but was much thicker than tin foil. The
panels on the LEM, used to land on the moon and return to the command
module did have very thin aluminum panels - I think they were a little
thicker than tin foil. But that does not matter - do a little more
reading, the total exposure for the astronauts for the entire trip to
the moon equaled the yearly exposure for a worker at a nuclear power
plant.

And as for tin foil protecting from radiation, cosmic radiation no but
it will stop alpha and beta particles - if I recall correctly from
collage physics. Will correct me if I'm wrong please...
