The point is that the learning curve for tab is very shallow,
so a guitarist who can't read yet can easily get the notes
under their fingers. There's a time and place for it.
Why not learn both at the same time along with how to play tunes
from lead sheets using chords and scales? What's the time and place
idea have to do with it?
