Still watching the comments after the debate but one quick comment:
One of the things I was thinking about during this debate is that we,
meaning worldwide, would have been much better off if either of these
guys had been President of the U.S. in the past 8 years instead of you
know who.
Andrew
I was bored senseless, waiting, waiting in vain for something
substantive to be said by either man.
The only thing I learned is that my man B.O. now favors offshore
drilling. Yeah, that's the ticket.
Let's face it, whoever gets elected is going to need a lot of help, and
a lot of luck.

Exactly. Anyone who is inspired by this pap needs to examine the
pretty words just a little more carefully. How can a slogan change
someone's mind? Is this a football game? Keep in mind, the office of
President is sold the same way as toothpaste. Good things will only
happen once the populace begins to educate itself, in history and
critical thinking.
I had a gig, but here's what I heard in the car:
"You there (black boy in the audience) you probably don't even know
what Freddie Mac is, do you (since you're probably too busy listening
to Rap Music in your 'Boom Box')..."
--this is a Bush-level faux-paux. Do you see it?
"We're going to achieve energy independence in ten years!"
--Great. So Obama wants to despoil our wilderness and suck every
ounce of oil, coal, and oil shale from the ground too. Hey--the
sooner we do this, the sooner we can start cutting emissions--because--
there won't be anything to emit! Have the American people lost all
sense of accountability to their children?
"Prioritize? We don't need to steenking prioritize! We're going to
help the economy, we're going to WIN this war in Iraq, baby, we're
going to make sure Wall Street behaves but we're going to deregulate
the market, we're also going to educate the children! But _that guy_
is going to raise taxes--don't vote for him!"
--Dude, that was incredible. I'm definitely for all that!
.... but then I had to leave the car and play my guitar for awhile--
have to make a living. I was disappointed that Senator McCain (can I
call you Johnny?) didn't ask Obama about his "terrist" associations or
question his conduct on the P-boat or bring up Willie Horton or say
"there you go again, Barry"... I guess that sort of thing is better
left to innuendo and underlings. To be fair, I didn't hear Obama ask
McCain exactly why he pressured federal regulators from, well,
regulating, Keating's S&L. Such opportunities missed!
I don't think I missed much. A lot of talk but no substance. One
minute sound-bites don't make for substance, unless one's mind has
been so fragmented by TV that the ability to do the logical equivalent
of simple arithmetic has been lost.
