(can we insert a violist joke here?)All the violists I know say this is one of the ultimate viola jokes:
Steve (don't have a good one).
The violist returns home one afternoon and as he pulls his car up to
the curb he sees an ambulance pulling away and fire trucks and police
cars are all over the place. There is smoke billowing out of his
living room window.
He rushes towards the front door and a police detective stops him.
The detective asks if he's the homeowner and when he replies in the
affirmative the detective says, "Sir, I have some bad news for you.
An hour ago the conductor of your orchestra showed up here, beat up
your wife and children, that was them in the ambulance, and trashed
all your belongings and set fire to your house."
The violist just stood there and stared for a few moments in silence.
Finally, he looked up at the detective, with his eyes widening and
said in a tremulous voice, "You mean...the maestro...came to MY
house!?!"
