Michael, you said earlier that: "The Buddhist account of the final

This is "logic"?
It could be 7 pieces of a comet. It could be 7 supernova. It could
be 7 really big nukes! It could be 7 of almost anything including things
we might not be able to imagine today.
The great part about prophecy is that given enough data points you
can find a rational for almost any "end days" imaginable, cyclic or not.
The fuzzier the statements the easier it is to make the data fit the
prophecy.
The Law of Fives!
Larry, by the time 2 suns appear in the sky, let alone 7, you can be
sure no living thing will be around to tell the tale.
In the Kalachakra Tantra ( wheel of time) it deals with time
associated with world cycles etc. The Buddhists, and Hindu's say,
that each cycle is destroyed by a particular element, water, fire,
wind, earth. There are Iron ages, bronze, silver, and golden ages.
Fortunate Kalpas in which a Buddha will appear, and unfortunate Kalpas
which no Buddha appears etc.
BTW, a Kalpa is the time span it takes for a bird circling Mount Meru
once every 100 years who has a silk cloth in it's mouth that strikes
the mountain and wears it down to nothing.
We all know of a great flood (water), meteorite or comet (earth),
which legends say occurred. You can believe this or not, but it seems
that we are discovering, that many historical stories in Greek
literature which many up until recently thought, had no actual
historical reality.... really do exist.
If every ancient civilization on both sides of the Atlantic, as well
as every major religion have stories of a world destroying great
flood, I wouldn't dismiss it as BS.
However DaveA and Larry, I wouldn't give it much thought, and it most
likely won't help you reach enlightenment, but to dismiss as bullshit
is rather narrow minded.
I'm the kind of person who believes these kind of things more than I
believe what people say today....... I also believe wood makes a
better guitar than plywood and carbon fiber, but that's just me, I'm
werid.
