After a heart attack last Tuesday, the 24th. I am on two medication
for the first time in my life. One is called Metoprolol (Tartrate). I
did some research on it and found out, some concert musicians, and
people who do public speaking, take the stuff to calm their nerves. A
half of a pill, 25mg knocks me on my ass. Have any of you ever heard
of anyone taking suck a drug before a performance?

Have you discussed a diet and exercise program, for rehab, with your
cardioigist yet? I hope you have a complete recovery.

That's what's so funny! Before the heart attack, that was caused by a
100% blockage in my RCA. My Blood pressure was 110/70 with a resting
heartbeat of 55. I exercise five days a week, bike, climb mountains,
swim, walk, throw the javelin, don't smoke, don't drink, eat very
little red meat, don't do any milk or dairy products, no family
history, etc, etc, They think maybe second had smoke and diesel fumes
from 27 years on the railroad.
I agree, if I don't need the drug to live, why then? Beta blockers? It
has knocked my blood pressure down to 95/58 with a heart rate 50 to
55. I see the doctor for the first time this Friday. I have a ton of
questions. Thanks to all of you.

Metaprolol is a beta blocker--decreases the oxygen demands on the heart by decreasing the strength of the contraction. I believe it can decrease heart rate too. So obviously this will decrease cardiac output and that can slow you down.
It is possible you can adjust to this dose over time, or your cardiologist can substitute another medication. Don't change anything without consulting first.
Yes, some performers take low-dose beta blockers to decrease jitters. I haven't heard of metaprolol specifically being used, usually Inderal, but they're the same class of drug.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
