I just came from a gig for a consulate's dinner party with like 30

First *** is the speaker. I asked them to provide the speaker if they
have and they did. The stupid thing was I forgot to ask if the speaker
was for eletronic instruments; and too bad, 99% of people's speaker is
mostly for eletronic instruments, not for accoustic's like ours! So
there I was producing sounds that I myself hated to hear!

Ooh lovely! CG through a 'metal' speaker. Mmmm!

When was the last time you play in public and just hate the sound you
produce?

All the time, but that has more to do with my dislike of performing
and that rather general dislike musicians have of their own playing
than the fact that I actually sound rubbish. Well so my teacher tells
me anyway.

I just did that! The electronic sh!t made my guitar echoed
with wang-wang wing-wing sound that just killed my own appetitte!
Playing this way, of course we lose control over the sound! My tone
production was so unconvincing, 'cause I just didn't know what to
expect if I played that louder or with metalic sound or whatever. The
hours of preparation is gone away with that bad speaker.

Being a classically trained player means that we keep on giving
ourselves instantenous feed back as we are producing or making the
music. So there I was, making music with my brain kept on criticizing
my unconvincing & bad tone production for 2.5 hours! It was just like
in hell! I just didn't feel good at all!

Well the fact that you didn't just pack up and go home is a good
thing. At least you did the professional thing and kept going even
though you weren't doing as well as you thought you should. And at
least you didn't let your brain put you off completely - when I'm in
that kind of situation I often just freeze and can't remember a darn
thing.

Luckily that was just a dinner event. So I just played the notes
cleanly like a music box. Unconvincing and meaningless, but still a
nice noise to the listeners. Well, at least that was what they said
anyway! I was lucky they were all diplomats with diplomatic
tactfulness.

Yeah - could have been a construction worker's convention! Well
alright it probably couldn't - can you honestly see construction
workers listening to CG at their annual dinner? But it could have been
worse.

Learning from this, I swear to God never again to play without my own
Pignose! It's really worth the hassle to bring my pignose around
rather than going home feeling like ***!

You sure you wouldn't prefer a Marshall stack?
