Vieaux doesn't always get his due among guitarists. He's not a prima

No low-cut dresses either.

The high-cut ones are the ones to watch out for. :-0

Vieaux is a very hard working guy. I'd love to hear his Bach and the
2nd lute suite is my favorite.

I've seen him perform live just once. Tom is right--he seems the
absolute antipode of "prima donna". Casual, unassuming--I'm sure not an
accident--he wishes all attention on the music, not him. The week
before I saw him someone posted a letter allegedly by Jason, where he
humorously worried about the other entertainment possibilities available
that evening in New York--very funny as well. I'd bet his Bach
recording will be a knockout.

I saved a copy of Ed Bridge's post on Vieaux' humor. I still have a
good laugh re-reading it.
Enjoy,

Hello everyone, For those that have not already received this info:
Astral Artistic Services is presenting my New York recital debut
onSaturday,November 8, 2003, at Merkin Recital Hall, 8pm. Now, I
realize that most of you New Yorkers are saving up your penniesforthe
following week's Aerosmith/Kiss recital at Madison Square Garden, and
asmost of you are musicians, you may have to make a choice between
thetwo forfinancial reasons. I understand perfectly; in fact, I can
remember aweekwhere Ihad to choose between Vermeer Quartet and Creed
(Luckily, I was able to call my mom for some help and go to both.
Sweet!). So, I'd like to make the following arguments, and hopefully
convince you to reconsider:

1. The tickets for my recital are $25, seniors and students $15.
Ifyou'venever been there, Madison Square Garden is a very spacious
venue, soinorder toget a decent seat for the Aerosmith/Kiss concert,
you'll have to pay, like,a thousand dollars or something!

2. For years, my "people" have been constantly wrangling me about"more
smokebombs", "more lasers", "more caged females", etc. Well, while I
maynot have the visual effects that an Aerosmith/Kiss recital
certainly provides, it'sabout the music, right? These two experienced
(albeit perfunctory)ensembles will likely perform readings of only
their own compositions, whereas I will be playing music by Sor, Bach,
Albeniz, Krouse, Ponce and Merlin. That's like four more composers!
Besides, Merkin had major problems with me bringing my modest-but-
effective light rig. I was ready to fight them on this and jumpt
hrough whatever legal hoops I had to; however, said light rig is in
disrepair after it fell on some customers during my weekly gig at
Carmine's Italian Ristorante, so it's moot.

3. I dare any of you to tell me that you've heard Sor Op. 9 or
"Sevilla" more times than you've heard "Rock 'n' Roll All Nite" or
"(Dude) Looks Like A Lady".

4. Ace Frehley is not even a member of Kiss anymore, I'll bet you
didn't know that. They didn't tell you about that, did they? Sort of
left that part out.You won't be seeing ol' Ace stumbling about the
stage for your $1000, noooo...

5. If you must go to A/K, consider passing on the t-shirts, poster
sand temporary tattoos normally offered at such an event, and then
maybe you can go to my recital, too. Thanks for considering the above
points, I'll try to understand if you can't make it.

Best,

Jason
