*laughing* Must have hit a nerve. No, Julio - you stretch YOUR mind.
I'm not backing Julio one way or the other, but I am wondering--how do
you know he doesn't like triadic music of the 20th and 21st centuries?
I haven't seen him say one way or the other. Are you just assuming? And
if so, how presumputious is that?
You're completely right in saying others are entitled to listen to
whatever they want, and I begrudge no one that right. Nor do hope to
get in the way of anyone believing what they feel they must about music
- however - when I am criticised for my alleged animosity towards
modernism as a legitimate musical advance, I think that criticism says
much more about the critic than it says about me or my tastes.
Maybe people are wondering why you seem so virulantly intolerant in a
forum where, at least from what I've seen, most everyone else seems
pretty laid-back and open minded about all kinds of styles.
Funny
how intolerant you are of anyone who declaims experimentalism as a
coherent musical language
Maybe that's not what's going on here. See above.
- and yes, I do consider twelve-tone as a
failed experiment. Rant all you want, but not everyone buys that tripe
of twelve tones being somewhat "equal."
Hey, use what you like in your music. I don't employ serial techniques
either. In fact, does any poster here use it as their primary means of
composing? Not that it should matter, actually--just curious.
And yes, I realize the futility
of posting at a site inhabited largely by those for whom non-tonality
upholds the ultimate destiny of what they consider music.
Who here has said that? You're the only one around here with this level
of axe to grind, as far as I can see. Major league strawman there.
In my
absolute opinion, what some of you offer is not music at all, but
merely an art of noise (why am I telling you something you already
know?).
So don't listen to what you don't like. I do the same, only I don't tie
my dislikes to a particular style or technique. Why do you feel the
need to repeatedly trumpet your personal tastes in a public forum?
