*laughing* Must have hit a nerve. No, Julio - you stretch YOUR mind.
You're completely right in saying others are entitled to listen to
whatever they want, and I begrudge no one that right. Nor do hope to
get in the way of anyone believing what they feel they must about music
- however - when I am criticised for my alleged animosity towards
modernism as a legitimate musical advance, I think that criticism says
much more about the critic than it says about me or my tastes. Funny
how intolerant you are of anyone who declaims experimentalism as a
coherent musical language - and yes, I do consider twelve-tone as a
failed experiment. Rant all you want, but not everyone buys that tripe
of twelve tones being somewhat "equal." And yes, I realize the futility
of posting at a site inhabited largely by those for whom non-tonality
upholds the ultimate destiny of what they consider music. In my
absolute opinion, what some of you offer is not music at all, but
merely an art of noise (why am I telling you something you already
know?).
