Not my way of doing it, but what the heck? It's his song.-
The amp is a Marshall acoustic and is specifically designed for guitar
and vocal alone..
Well they say that in the owners manuals, and they also give
you the option of course to plug more than one guitar into
an amp. I wouldn't do that either because I did it over 30
years ago and the amp would start cutting out. But maybe
it would work these days, and I also used to play through
very cheap amps.
I bought a 50w one coz the 100w one was too heavy to
lug around..main reason for playing with it is to see if I'm viable
for performing live in pubs..(I've got the freebie gig tomorrow) Since
all I've been doing is playing in the street for the past 25 years and
haven't played in a pub for twenty..I thought I needed to move up a
notch..particulary as life is slipping through my fingers..as we all
know.
You know, I have a friend that wanted me to play in the streets,
but I don't know how you go about it. Don't you need a permit?
Could two people playing together make decent money?
I can relate to buying a amp you can't carry.
So the groove was to practice playing amped up (which is
basically what you're watching with all the vids) and get the hang of
using a mike and an electrified acoustic...I'm getting the hang of
it..we'll see.
You sound great to me.
The amp has separate holes and controls for the guitar and vocal, so I
can have reverb on the vocal alone, or the guitar...it's a pretty good
amp..bloody loud too, though you don't get that on the vids, bought it
new for £215, which was a bargain..the 100w was 40 quid more..but as I
said it was bloody heavy.
I've been told to go easy on the reverb before...apparently it's
always the case that folk such as me that first get themselves amped
up tend to notch up the echoing...(didn't Lennon like reverb as
well?)..can be a case of Less is More.
Danny
Yeah, Lennon liked reverb or anything to make his voice sound
different. He hated his own voice.
I've seen a few interviews on that point and/or read a couple of
essays on that point. George Martin was one of several who reported
that John did not like his own voice and would always ask for
"effects." Martin reported that John would say to him, "Can't you
smear some ketchup on it?" or something like that.- Hide quoted text -

I think he said he didn't like his voice up until around 1967, that he
then "found his voice" or something. Am I imagining it?.
