I have a video of a McCartney/Lennon interview, I think from 1965,
where Paul openly opposes Barry Goldwater. John was taken aback and
looked at him and said something, to which McCartney replied to the
effect that Goldwater was an exception. So there may have been more
suppressed political thought in The Beatles than we know.
